Energy Saving Concepts -

You may have heard of these tips before but
until you start using them you are losing money!

1. Turn down your Hot Water Heater temperature setting…120 Degrees is hot enough for showers and most other hot water usage.
   
   
2. Keep your thermostat at 68 degrees or lower in the winter, and 78 degrees or higher in the summer. The energy cost you will save will surprise you!
   
   
3. TURN off your heater and A/C system when leaving your home…this alone can save you more than anything!
   
   
4. Switch your dishwasher to "Air Dry" if possible…Open the door when the cycle is over and let them air dry.
   
   
5. Wash all clothes in cold water if possible…Most detergents are designed to work correctly in cold water and this can save you money each and every load.
   
   
6. Use ceiling fans in combination with a higher temp setting (80°+ F) when running your air conditioner…this will make you feel cooler due to the wind chill effect!
   
   
7. Turn off or unplug VCR's TV's and other small appliances that are infrequently used… EVERY small using appliance adds up when you are paying your bill.
   
   
8. Use drapes and window blinds to help your home stay cool or warm…Stand in front of a large window and you will be amazed at how much cold or heat is transferred into and out of your home during outdoor temperature extremes.
   
   
9. Make sure that your damper is closed or glass doors are shut in fireplaces when not using them…a large amount of heat can escape up the flue.
   
   
10. Keep Energy Conservation on the forefront of your mind…This will allow you to recognize bad habits that you or family members may be falling back into. Energy Savings add UP if you continually work at saving energy!
